Rimmel Vinyl Gloss Shade 'Cosmic' Review, Swatches, LOTD - An affordable nude brown lip gloss

Hi everyone,
These days I am on a hunt for 'makeup-multitaskers'. Being a mommy I can't carry a handbag loaded with kilos of makeup products because I pack my handbag keeping my cupcake's needs in mind and it's more like a diaper bag these days. I just pop in a small pouch of some makeup staples in which there are products which can be used in more than one ways. The lipgloss from Rimmel which is going to be reviewed in this post can also be used in 3 ways-

1. As a lip gloss when worn on it's own
2. To tone down loud and bold lipsticks
3. To impart shiny finish to matt lipsticks

So let's just start with the introduction of this lipgloss from Rimmel London.

Shade name and number: Cosmic 730
Price: INR 245/- for 4.5 g ( I bought it for $2 on Boxing Day sale in Australia)
Ingredients: Vitamin A, C, E and Shea Butter
Available: On Nykaa.com for ₹290 and offline cosmetic stores and pharmacies in Australia.

Product description as claimed by the brand: Amplify your lips ! Up to 80% more shine with Magnifying Vinyl Shine complex formula with vitamins A, C, E and Shea Butter, for protected lips that feel moisturised. Non-sticky formula.

My Experience With Shade 'Cosmic' from Rimmel London Vinyl Lipgloss:

Packaging: Rimmel Vinyl Lip gloss comes in a standard lip gloss tube like packaging which has a clear transparent bottom and opaque black cap with a sponge applicator. The colour of the lipgloss is easily visible through the clear part of the tube and thus it's easy to find it in makeup stash. The tube is sturdy, convenient to use and travel friendly. However I did not like the shade name and number being absent on the tube. It was packaged when I bought it and the shade details were mentioned only on the sticker attached to the outer packaging.

Applicator: The applicator is feather like which is neither too big nor too small and picks up just the right amount of product and is easy to use on the lips.
Shade : The shade 'cosmic' from rimmel vinyl lip gloss is a soft muted brown which almost looks like a nude brown on the lips. It looks quite natural and flattering on fair and medium skin-tone whereas people with skintone on the darker side can pair it up with a dark lip liner or lipstick underneath to make it work for them.

Texture: Rimmel Vinyl gloss has a light weight oily sort of texture. Despite of having shimmer it feels non-gritty and very smooth.

Pigmentation: Rimmel Vinyl lip-gloss in the shade 'Cosmic' is not quite pigmented. It comes out very sheer in the first swipe which almost looks like as if you have smeared petroleum jelly on the lips. However a pearly shine makes it more noticeable than petroleum jelly. The colour is buildable to some extent and looks better with a second swipe.
Finish: Being a gloss it gives a shiny finish which is not glittery but pearly. It does not have chunky glitter particles but extremely fine shimmer which reflects light and imparts a lovely mirror like shine to the lips. Because of light reflection, it also adds volume to the lips and makes them appear fuller. Overall the finish it gives is sexy and shiny.

Feel on the lips: Rimmel vinyl gloss has a lovely non-sticky and non-tacky formula which does not feel heavy on the lips. It does not cause any discomfort when I purse my lips. It is quite moisturising because it is rich with Shea butter and can be worn on bare lips to moisturise and soothe.

Staying power: It stays for 2-3 hours on maximum. Requires frequent touch ups. Does not survive meals and keeps transferring to glasses. It does not leave any shimmer particles behind and does not bleed even when worn without a lip liner.

Applies best when: It applies best with the applicator itself when worn on it's on. However, if you want to top off a lipstick or lip liner with it, then use a lip brush and apply in the centre part of the lips to get shine and volumising effect.

Who should buy: People who like moisturising and pocket-friendly lipglosses which give a subtle shine and look natural on the lips. It's a lovely biscuit kinda brown shade which will flatter medium and fair skin. Teenage girls and college goers might also like it for a sober look and a hint of gloss and nude colour on the lips.

Overall: Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in the shade 'Cosmic' is an affordable, high quality moisturising lipgloss which gives enough moisture, subtle shine, volume and a quick wash of colour to the lips. It pairs beautifully with dark matt lipsticks. It's staying power and pigmentation is something that did not impress me a lot but considering the low price that can be forgiven.
